UPCOMING EVENTS AND CURRENT NEWS:


Just a reminder that sports equipment for Garden Hill (hockey, ringette, soccer, skates) must be dropped off at the church by January 17. Thank you!

The church office will be closed next week Monday-Wednesday. If there’s an urgent matter please call the Deacons (Dale Fast 204-488-4620 or 204-791-6808).

Annual General Meeting & Lunch – Sunday, January 28 at 12:30pm. All members and adherents are invited to attend. Register here.

Praying for the Winnipeg Police Service – Several years ago 52 Winnipeg churches got together to discuss praying for our Winnipeg Police Officers throughout the year; and the 365 Police Prayer Watch was formed. Each church has a commitment for one week; thereby our officers are prayed for every day of the year. Our 2018 commitment is January 21-27. Our church is in the process of applying for the Canada Summer Jobs grant as in past years. Please pray for wisdom as we fill out our application since some of the rules have changed. To find out more click here: Canada Summer Jobs Grants Policy Change

LIFEPATH MINISTRIES


The Experience – A twelve week church-wide journey beginning Sunday, January 21. From the author of the best-selling Experiencing God series. In each section of this  journal, Blackaby and his son teach aspects of Christian living by focusing on key scriptural truths and Bible characters. Through this devotional you’ll grow in your desire and ability to listen to God and live faithfully with Him. Cost: $2. Contact: Pastor Doug (204-997-6659).

Beginning on January 21 you are invited to join a Seasonal Life Group (meeting weekly  or bi-weekly) where you can develop friendships while discussing the personal impact of reading through this 84-day devotional. Sign-up for these Life Groups will be available Sundays, January 7-21 in the foyer. Contact Pastor Doug for more information.

Book Club – Saturdays, February 3, March 3, April 7, May 5; 7:00-8:30pm at 135 Apple Hill Rd. Contact: Emmie Dryjski. Book TBD at first meeting. Register here.

Nehemiah – God Restores His People through a Building Project – Sundays, January 21-February 25; 9:00-10:30am  Registration not required but it would be helpful to let Bob Fast know if you are planning to attend. Facilitators: Bob Fast and Dave Barton. In preparation, pre-reading Ezra and Nehemiah would be helpful. * Note: there will be no session on February 4.

Adult Bible Study—Living Generously  January 18-April 19 (1st & 3rd Thursday of the month); 10:00-11:30am. Registration not required. Contact: Pastor Doug Friesen

Women’s Bible Study  –An Inductive Bible Study by Kay Arthur. This easy-to-learn method will transform your personal study time.

PRAYER MINISTRY UPDATES


Building Project Praise and Prayer:

  • Thanks to everyone for praying as we’ve gone through the bidding process. The Lord is faithful and has enabled the project to come in on budget. This is a real answer to prayer and we are excited to get started.
  • As we move into the building phase, please pray that those working will work to the best of their ability, and realize that they are truly working for the Lord.
