Glenn Parker

From Glenn Parker: An update for my brother Bruce - this is the 17th week he has been at HSC, Approx. 3 weeks ago they partially removed the trech tube so he could talk for short periods of time. Gradually all tubes, etc. have been removed - he is breathing on his own! He has movement in his upper body - can move his arms, but no power to hold anything, etc. As of this morning, he was moved from IICU to the Rehab!! Now the hard part comes of building up his strength and muscles again. Thank you for your concerns and prayers. Glenn

Melanie Friesen

From Melanie Friesen: Please pray for my nephew, Luke (my sister, Alisa's youngest). He is 3 and has severe hemophilia. In July he had surgery to try to have a port put in so that he would be able to receive his injections more often. This is a risky surgery for someone with a bleeding disorder and it did not go well. The surgeon accidentally nicked the carotid artery and he had to be sedated to stop the bleeding. My sister and her husband were uneasy attempting the surgery again so since then they have been taking him to the hospital 3 - 4 times a week to get his treatment but his veins are all shot and it is very difficult to give his his injections so they really need to try to put the port in again. He will be having the port surgery on Wednesday morning at 9 am. Please pray that everything goes smoothly and that my sister and her husband would sense the peace of God.

IBK

From IBK: Thank God for sustaining the ministry of CEF of Manitoba through a tough financial stress this summer, which resulted in losing 2 full time staff and yet having records breakthrough in number of summer workers, children reached with the Gospel and children that responded to the invitation. More children responded to the call that CEF has ever seen in the last 22 plus years.

Pray now that God will provide the funds needed for CEF to be able to pay its staff and other expenses as savings was used to maintain the summer ministry where the Canada Summer grants would have made a significant difference.

Pray that God will open up the heavens in abundance and favor and that we will be able to come out of our Line of Credit by the end of this month.

Continue to pray for the public school ministry (Discovery Time) that approvals will keep coming as petitions are handed in with no further hiccups. So far 6 new schools have been approved. That is more than 47 schools with religious instructions and thousands of children hearing the Gospel in schools, in a time/day as today. That is worth being thankful for. Proclaim the praises of the Lord with us!

Johanna Jorgensen

From Johanna Jorgensen: Please pray for me and my family regarding my cancer diagnosis. I was upgraded to stage 3C after they found cancer in my lymph nodes. All my scans have been clear though which is an answer to prayer. This means the cancer has not spread any further than my lymph nodes.

It's a really long story that I'll update more on when I have a bit more time, but we found out that Manitoba Health/Cancer Care will not cover the treatment I need to save my life. It's funded for stage 4, but not for stage 3. I'm 3c (there is no stage 3d) so I'm a hairline away from being covered. Basically we're having to come up with $180,000 to start on immunotherapy. It's really urgent as this very well could save my life. The only other option I was given was a drug that's only 11% effective with horrible side effects, or waiting until I'm stage 4 and then being covered (which isn't an option. It could take my life at stage 4). I have to start treatment by the end of October so please pray that our fundraising efforts are successful. If they aren't, my parents, in laws and Adam and I will have to sell our houses to get the money. If we could also get some prayer that our meeting with the minister of health goes well (to see about getting some funds to cover costs) as well as that our application to the drug company asking for the drugs to be reduced to half price would be successful. Also, that our go fund me which we will be launching soon will be successful. Thank you all so much. We appreciate the prayer and support more than you know.

Pastor Alf Bell

Pastor Alf Bell is in St. Boniface hospital due to a continued bladder-related issue. It seems that he will be in hospital for a while as the medical team deals with this issue and with some physical pain related to it. Pastor Alf is not currently feeling up to visits as he requires a lot of rest, but he very much welcomes your prayers.

From Marilyn Parker: Please pray for Jeff, our nephew, who is at HSC. He has been battling cancer for several months. From what I understand, the doctors and medicine have done what they can do. Jeff is married, and has a young family. Please pray for God's Will with healing, peace for the family, and that everyone will experience God's presence.

Glenn Parker

From Glenn Parker: My brother, Bruce Parker, is still at IICU at HSC (his 9th week). The doctors are treating it like Guillain-Barre Syndrome. He now knows we are with him, understands what we say to him, and can make facial expressions and slightly nod his head or shrug his shoulders to communicate. We, including Bruce, know its going to be a long recovery including rehab. Last week his left arm moved and he has a bit of tingling in his legs. A challenge is his lungs!! We're praying that once the GBS starts to recede that his lungs will get stronger as well. Our 92 year old Mother seems to be taking this well, although she hasn't seen him. Thank you for your prayers. Glenn

Johanna Jorgensen

From Johanna Jorgensen: Thank you to all those who have been praying for my family and I as we are on this cancer journey. God has been with us and we have felt your prayers. So far, the CT scan, ultrasound, and blood work have all come back clear! I had surgery 3 weeks ago to remove a large portion of my stomach so they could catch any remaining melanoma, as well as removal of some lymph nodes to see if the cancer has spread to there. Some specific things we'd love prayer for:

1. Please be praying for us tomorrow (September 25th) as we will be going to Cancer Care to find out if the cancer has spread to my lymph nodes. This is the biggest test result we've been waiting for and we're a little nervous about this one! Please pray it hasn't spread.

2. Please be praying that the results of my bone scan come back clear (although I'm less worried about that one).

3. Please pray also be praying that pain in my chest is just anxiety and not cancer related.

4. Please pray I get the all clear tomorrow to lift my kids. I haven't been able to lift my kids for 3 weeks so that's been challenging with a 9 month old and a 2 year old!

5. Please pray that my staging doesn't go up. I'm stage 2, but tomorrow we find out what my official cancer stage is.

Thank you! We so, so appreciate the love, prayer, and support from our church!

Please pray for Alf Bell as he recuperates at Victoria Hospital following some medical issues. Pastor Alf will likely remain in hospital for a number more days at least as some tests are done and as medical programs are put in place to help him return home. He is on the 5th floor and very open to visits.

Johanna Jorgensen

Please pray for me and my family as I was recently diagnosed with nodular melanoma (skin cancer). We don't know what stage I'm at yet, but we are praying it's only stage 2 as that would only be surgery. Stage 3 would likely be chemo. We are going to cancer care this coming Wednesday and we will find out some more info, results of x-rays and blood work and a treatment plan. Please pray for peace and for complete healing. And just that we don't let anxiety creep in as it's so easy to let your mind go to the worst place when you don't know how bad the cancer is yet. Pray for my husband Adam. And just for strength as we have two little kids ages 2 and 7 (almost 8 months). It's hard to deal with. But we know we serve a God who is ever with us and trust that we can bring him glory even in the midst of this.

Glenn Parker

From Glenn Parker: I request prayer for my brother Bruce, who was admitted to HSC on Sunday because of weakness to his lower body (he could not stand up or walk), Many tests have confirmed nothing. However, they suspect Guillain-Barre Syndrome. The weakness has now spread to his upper body, and he has been transferred to ICU. Apparently this syndrome reverses itself, but his stay in the hospital will be several weeks. The worst is still to come. Please pray for wisdom for the doctors, God's healing, and for peace for our 92 year old Mother during this trying time.

Susan Shallcross

From Susan Shallcross: Last night our daughter Mary Krohn experienced another heart arrhythmia. She was taken to St Boniface Hospital where she was prepared for the procedure to stop her heart and shock it back to start it. This is always a tense time. We had some people praying when slowly her heart came into rhythm. What a miracle. We thank God for showing this to us. She has always been known as Gods child. Thank you for everyone who prayed last night and for those who always have our family in their prayers.

Melanie Friesen

From Melanie Friesen: Thanks for praying for my nephew. Praise God, he is healing really well. His ultrasound looked good but showed a shadow that could be a hematoma. He will go back for another ultrasound in 2 weeks and has to have factor every day for a while to make sure he doesn’t bleed internally. He was discharged today. Continue to pray that he continues to heal well and for my sister and her husband as they have the difficult decision to make as to whether to try to do this surgery again.

From Melanie Friesen: Another update on my nephew: They took the tube out and he is breathing well on his own. He’s really tired and has been nauseous. They just gave him meds for nausea. They are giving him factor every 8 hours. He is doing well all things considered, but they need to watch him carefully. He hasn’t been able to drink yet. He will be in the hospital at least two more nights. Thanks for praying
