David Wynne
David & Shirley Wynne - Thank you for the many responses showing us that you have been praying for us and David’s brother Ted. Following is an update on Ted's journey:
Ted was originally admitted to hospital on Dec 28th with a severe abdominal infection. They did an exploratory operation shortly after admitting him to see if they could identify the source of the infection. Then, after treating him for over a week they operated on Saturday, January 10th and removed some dead tissue but found some additional issues and ended up operating again the next day, January 11th to remove more tissue and muscle. In essence, he had contracted necrotizing fasciitis, the flesh eating disease. Given the amount of tissue they removed, the wound has been left open to facilitate healing and he has been doing very well. However, they decided to do a follow up surgery yesterday to remove some additional dead tissue which has been impeding the healing process so he has been set back a little. His prognosis is that if the healing continues to progress, then he should be looking at skin grafting in about 2 weeks to close up the wound from the operations and then whatever time it takes for that to heal before he can be released to recuperate at home. But when he does finally get to that point, the doctors will have to re-evaluate his chemo program for the lymphoma that he has been fighting for the last year. Your prayers have been appreciated by us as well as Ted and his wife Valerie. Thank you.

Susan Shallcross
George and Susan Shallcross - Susan is slated for hernia surgery on Friday Nov 14th. Please pray that she would not get bumped. Normally this would not be a problem but the plan for George is for Susan to have surgery and get well so that George can get his tracheotomy before his Parkinson’s gets any more advanced and it becomes an emergency. His surgery will require a lengthy stay and a lot of post op care at home. Aaliyah is also due to have surgery in December.
Pray for Susan’s to have surgery as scheduled and an uncomplicated recovery
Pray for George as he struggles with choking and as he faces adjusting to life with a trachea
Pray for Aaliyah as she faces surgery

We are so grateful that the surgeon found nothing wrong with Georges stomach but did find that the problem is that Parkinsons disease has stiffened all the muscles in his neck. The only answer is a Tracheostomy but this will be a life changing surgery. He would no longer be able to speak, which is worrying him, and the care would be difficult depending on how they do it. Due to the mixed messages from the doctors at St. Boniface, last night, we will be part of a team meeting at HSC at 10:00am to learn all the details so he can sign an informed consent if that is his decision. Please continue to pray for us as I also have abdominal surgery slated on November 14th and this may have to be postponed,

Susan Shallcross
George and Susan Shallcross - We are asking for prayer for our family and safety for George.
George has deteriorated over the past few weeks and his choking is getting dangerous.
Due to two days of terrible choking it has been decided to operate on him Thurs Oct 30th at 10:30 am at Saint Boniface Hospital.
If there is no obvious problem it will be diagnosed as part of his Parkinson's disease and he will have a tracheostomy operation. It will depend on OR time and surgeon availability tomorrow for this to be done.
