Kids at the Ridge Weekly: Celebrate May!

Hi Friends!

We have been so busy in our Children’s Ministry this last month. Our Easter unit (and the month of April too) went by in a whirlwind, but I pray that it was a meaningful time together with your families!  I know this is the time of year that many families are getting busy with spring sports starting up. But even if your child isn’t as busy with extracurriculars, the days are getting longer and I’m sure they are just as busy playing and enjoying those extra hours of sunlight!

This Sunday (May 3) is Volunteer Appreciation Sunday at church.  We will be doing some special things in the service to appreciate all our volunteers at WRBC, but I also want to celebrate and give a shout out to our amazing team of leaders who have committed to serve our kids and families in our Kids at the Ridge classes!   I encourage you to please say thank you to your child’s leaders this month. They go above and beyond as they dedicate their time to serve – often every other week!  I’d be happy to let you know the names of your child’s leaders, or pass along any notes – just reach out to me!

Remember how I said we’d have a classroom page coming up?   Change of plans… I tried to work through the best way to get out this info and I think a weekly email is going to be best instead – so no worrying about remembering a password or website page address!  I will be sharing a new video each week (for Preschool and Elementary) that goes along with what we learned on Sunday – Kids can watch the videos to reinforce the Bible Story they learned and I’ll also provide some dinnertime questions for you as well!

This week in Children’s Ministry:

Instructions: Click on the link below to access the lesson videos playlists for Preschool and Elementary. This is a great way to engage with your kids!  Kids use the “Home Guide” worksheet at church as a way to respond to the lesson, so you can work on that page more or just use the discussion spot in the video and pause to discuss! I’ve also provided a dinnertime question for you to use this week!

Lesson 10.2: Saul’s Great Basket Escape

We learned how Saul’s (Paul’s) friends helped him escape in a basket through the city wall!

BIG IDEA:  My church helps me and I help my church.

BIBLE BASIS:  Acts 9:19–25

KEY VERSE:  “Carry one another’s heavy loads. If you do, you will fulfill the law of Christ.” Galatians 6:2 (NIrV)

Dinnertime Question: Who helps you when you need it?

Lesson 10.2 – Paul’s Great Escape

As followers of Jesus, we are recipients of the best news ever! We heard the story of Paul’s great escape over the city walls (in a basket!) and how that didn’t stop him from sharing the good news of Jesus!

BIBLE BASIS: Acts 9:19–31

BIG IDEA: The Holy Spirit gives us the power to boldly tell others about the good news of Jesus.

WEEKLY VERSE: “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you. Then you will tell people about me.. from one end of the earth to the other.” Acts 1:8 (NIrV)

DINNERTIME QUESTION: Have you shared the Good News of Jesus with anyone? What did you say? If not, who is someone you would like to share it with?

May Scripture Memory Verse

Memorizing scripture is so important!  We have a key verse each month for kids to learn. If they can recite it to me or their classroom leader, they can earn a special prize!  Bonus treats given if they memorize the weekly verse too!

Preschool to Grade 1 Memory Verse:

Elementary Grade 2-4 Memory Verse:

Blessings to you and your families this week:  “May you experience the love of Christ, through it is so great that you will never fully understand it, and may you be filled with the fullness of life and power that comes from God.” Ephesians 3:19

Please reach out if you ever have any questions or if there is something I can pray for.

In Him,

Mrs. Sheilla
