Kids at the Ridge Weekly: May 17

Hi Kids at the Ridge Friends!

I hope are having or had a wonderful long weekend. Just in case you missed the Sunday service, here is our weekly update about what happened and how you can connect with your kids this week! And even if you were here on Sunday, this is a fantastic way to follow up with and continue our sessions at home!

Special Note: We are in desperate need of Small group leaders for our Kids VBS summer camp this July 20-24. With many of our regular leaders either serving or attending Camp Nutimik the same week, we are short on staff. Please prayerfully consider how you might be able to help us this summer – and reach out to your circles!

This week in Children’s Ministry:

Instructions:  Bookmark the YouTube Playlist links below!
Each week we will release the latest video for a special “At Home” session.  This is a great follow up to our lesson from Sunday that kids can watch on their own… BUT this is also a fun way to engage with your kids!  Just watch and follow the instructions in the video :)   I’ve also provided a dinnertime question for you to use this week!

Do you want to share?  I’d love to hear how your dinnertime questions are going and be able to share some answers (can be anonymous) in the weekly emails!  Share a God moment you have had this week – let’s encourage one another!

Lesson 10.5: Paul and Silas’ Big Quake

Shake things up – It’s praise time! We heard how Paul and Silas prayed and sang in jail until God sent an earthquake to set them free.

BIG IDEA:  I can pray to Jesus anytime anywhere, about anything!

BIBLE BASIS:  Acts 16:16-40

KEY VERSE:  “Never stop praying.” 1 Thessalonians 5:17 (NIrV)

Dinnertime Question/Activity: Play a “freeze dance” game with worship music. Play a song and randomly pause the music. Thank Jesus every time the music stops.  Be silly and make funny poses each time it freezes.

Lesson 10.5 – A New Heaven and A New Earth

When Jesus ascended into heaven, he didn’t just wave goodbye and say “See ya later!” No way! He said that he was coming back! Jesus said that this story isn’t over yet and that we still have so much more to look forward to and things will be made right once and for all.

BIBLE BASIS: Acts 21-28

BIG IDEA: The Good News of Jesus sets us free from sin, so we can tell our story to others.

WEEKLY VERSE: “Let those who have been set free by the Lord tell their story.” Psalm 107:2 (NIrV)

DINNERTIME QUESTION: Parents – share how you came to know and follow Jesus with your kids!  Ask them: Who do we know that doesn’t follow Jesus? What could we do to share Jesus with them?

May Scripture Memory Verse

Memorizing scripture is so important!  We have a key verse each month for kids to learn. If they can recite it to me or their classroom leader, they can earn a special prize!  Bonus treats given if they memorize the weekly verse too!

Preschool to Grade 1 Memory Verse:

Elementary Grade 2-4 Memory Verse:

My prayer for you this week is to keep that hope and faith alive and real in your lives but also in the lives of your kids who are watching and learning from you! As Christians, we have this incredible hope for our future that Jesus bought for us. Let’s keep that at the top of our thoughts as we go about our week.

Prayers to you this week!
