Kids at the Ridge Weekly: May 3

Hi Friends!

This Sunday our church celebrated all the amazing volunteers who serve in various ministries within the church. I might be biased, but I think the volunteer leaders we have in Children’s Ministry are the best of the best. They love kids and they love sharing God’s Word!    I hope you can find a moment to pray for them this week and pray for our ministry.

God is working through our leaders, and we see so many big and small moments each week where God uses us to pray for, encourage and guide kids towards Jesus.  It’s a beautiful thing!  Psalm 147:4 says “He counts the stars and calls them all by name.”  God knows each of us by name and we are special to Him. Pray for us as we prepare to teach your children.

This week in Children’s Ministry:

Instructions: Click on the link below to access the lesson videos playlists for Preschool and Elementary. This is a great way to engage with your kids!  Kids use the “Home Guide” worksheet at church as a way to respond to the lesson, so you can work on that page more or just use the discussion spot in the video and pause to discuss! I’ve also provided a dinnertime question for you to use this week!

Lesson 10.3: Barnabas the Encourager

Everyone needs a cheerleader like Barnabas! We heard how Barnabas encouraged Saul and helped the early church grow.

BIG IDEA:  My church helps me and I help my church.

BIBLE BASIS:  Acts 4:36-37; 13:1-3; 15:36-41

KEY VERSE:  “Carry one another’s heavy loads. If you do, you will fulfill the law of Christ.” Galatians 6:2 (NIrV)

Dinnertime Question: Take turns giving compliments – say something kind to each other! Ask: Who can you encourage today?

Lesson 10.3 – Paul and Silas in Prison

When most people escape from prison, they don’t stop to tell the guard about the good news of Jesus. But most people aren’t Paul and Silas! We heard the story of Paul and Silas sharing their faith during a dramatic moment in prison.

BIBLE BASIS: Acts 16:16-40

BIG IDEA: The Good News of Jesus is for all people, so we should always be ready to share why we believe.

WEEKLY VERSE: “Always be ready to give an answer to anyone who asks you about the hope you have.” 1 Peter 3:15 (NIrV)

DINNERTIME QUESTION: Do you think it’s hard to tell others about Jesus? Why or why not?
Some kids can find it tough to share something personal with others. Remind them that the Holy Spirit is always there with them.

May Scripture Memory Verse

Memorizing scripture is so important!  We have a key verse each month for kids to learn. If they can recite it to me or their classroom leader, they can earn a special prize!  Bonus treats given if they memorize the weekly verse too!

Preschool to Grade 1 Memory Verse:

Elementary Grade 2-4 Memory Verse:

I pray that these materials can help you have meaningful conversations with your kids!  It might be hard to get your kids to engage spiritually, but we are praying for you!  Here is God’s promise to us from Philippians 4:19-20: “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus. To our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen.”

In Him,

Mrs. Sheilla
