Kids at the Ridge Weekly: May 31

Hi Friends,

Hope your week is going well!  We missed connecting last week due to a website issue, so I’m sorry about that!  Please know you can email me anytime if you have questions.  This email serves to help give you a weekly update to our Children’s Ministry but also give you some ideas on how you can connect with your kids this week, and how your kids can also connect with our lesson this past Sunday.

Reminders:
  • VBS Volunteers Still Needed!  We are still looking to fill a couple of volunteer spots at our kids vbs camp July 20-24!  Please reach out if you are available to help!  If you are creative, we will also need some decorations and classroom decorating help!
  • SONSeekers Summer Schedule July 5th to September 6th:
    • Our last regular Children’s Ministry programming will be on Sunday, June 28th
    • Summer Programming is only available for Nursery and children 5 years old and under.
    • Preschoolers will begin in the service sitting with their parents and then are dismissed after our Kids Ministry Minute Message to go check-in.
    • Kids 6 years old and up can check out our Kids Craft Cart in the Auditorium for weekly activity & coloring pages. We will have some participation opportunities every week through the activity pages!

This week in Children’s Ministry:

Instructions:  Bookmark our Kids at the Ridge YouTube Playlists for Preschool and Elementary! Check out the links below! New videos added weekly!

Each week we will release the latest session video as a special “At Home” option as a follow up from our Sunday’s Kids Message!  Kids can watch on their own but it’s also a fun way to engage with your kids!   I’ve also provided a dinnertime question for you to use this week!

Do you want to share?  I’d love to hear how your dinnertime questions are going and be able to share some answers (can be anonymous) in the weekly emails!  Share a God moment you have had this week – let’s encourage one another!

Lesson 11.2: Ruth and Naomi

When life gets tough, good friends stick together! This weekend, we heard how Ruth chose to stay with Naomi, no matter what.

BIG IDEA:  God Gives me friends who stick close

BIBLE BASIS:  Ruth 1:1-18

KEY VERSE:  “There is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.” Proverbs 18:24 (NIrV)

Dinnertime Question/Activity: Give your child a sticker to wear on their shirt and remind them: “God made you to be a good friend!” Ask: Who’s someone you can stick close to this week?

Lesson 12.1 – The Book of James: Wisdom in Times of Trouble

Have you ever found yourself in “a time of trouble”? The kind of trouble we heard about in the book of James can be really tough… but what if our times of trouble can also be a time of joy? We  talked about our faith “muscles” and how God helps us in times of trouble and how it helps our faith in Him grown stronger.

Bible Story: The Book of James: Wisdom in Times of Trouble

Big Idea: God calls us to seek Him for wisdom in times of trouble.

Memory Verse: “If any of you needs wisdom, you should ask God for it. He will give it to you.” James 1:5 (NIrV)
Sometimes we face situations where we just don’t know what to do, but do you know that the Bible says that we can ask God for wisdom and He’ll be there to help us out!

DINNERTIME QUESTION: What kind of troubles are you having right now? How can you find JOY in the middle of trouble?  Ask your kids how YOU can pray for THEM this week and watch their reactions!

May Scripture Memory Verse – LAST WEEK for this verse!!

Memorizing scripture is so important!  We have a key verse each month for kids to learn. If they can recite it to me or their classroom leader, they can earn a special prize!  Bonus treats given if they memorize the weekly verse too!

Preschool to Grade 1 Memory Verse:

Elementary Grade 2-4 Memory Verse:

My prayer for you this week is that through all the activities and school and car rides, that you might have a Holy Spirit led moment with your kids. I pray that as you watch and listen to your kids in those busy moments, that you will see how God might prompt you in some way to share His Word or pray together with them. I love the lessons we learned this week and the conversations we had with your kids. I pray it will be a blessing to you this week too!
