Katy’s YFC Update – I am back from Maternity Leave!
“I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong.” – Ephesians 3:16-17 (NLT)
Dear Church Family,
I am back from maternity leave!
Personal/Family Update
It has been a whirlwind of a year being home with 3 little ones! It has felt like a very full year with the busyness of starting school, the kids activities and keeping up with our acreage. And yet in many ways it has also felt slow and refreshing with lots of days at home and time together as a family. Through it all, I am so thankful. For all the big things we experienced together – the milestones, the birthdays, the holidays, and for all the little things we experienced together – the giggles, the meals, the playing, and the endless snuggles! What an amazing way to spend a year of my life and I am so blessed to have been able to do it with the birth of each of our children! This year has definitely had its challenges as well, as we were without a vehicle for a few months, we experienced financial strain due to my leave from work, and there were many days when the parental and household loads felt too heavy to carry. My word/phrase for 2025 was “live by faith” and I know that my faith in the Lord is truly what sustained me and He has been so faithful to not only carry us through those struggles but to give us peace and encouragement.
Ministry Update
Although it is an adjustment getting back into “work mode”, it has been great being back at YFC, re-connecting with the staff, my ministry partners and my clients. The need for the counselling ministry at YFC is still very evident with many people inquiring and reaching out regarding our services while I was away and my availability since I have been back. In my first days back we had YFC’s annual radiothon with CHVN and it was such great timing to re-immerse myself in the mission and vision of the ministry. Listening each day to the stories shared by youth, staff and volunteers, I personally felt so encouraged in what God is doing in the lives of youth through YFC and excited to be a part of that once again in the counselling ministry!
Financial Update
I would like to say a HUGE thank you to all who have continued to partner with me while I was on maternity leave, whether through financial gifts, prayers, or encouragement! Knowing I have had your continued support has helped carry me through this year and has bolstered my confidence in my return. I am currently working 20 hours per week, however I am in need of more financial support in order to sustain those hours.
There continues to be a significant need for reduced/fully subsidized counselling services for youth and families through YFC – would you consider becoming a financial partner with me in this ministry? I would love to be able to remain at 20 hours per week, taking part in this valuable work, which can only be done by the grace of God who calls each one of us to do our part. Details on how to give are listed below. I greatly appreciate your partnership in this way as well as your prayers and encouragement!
Prayer Requests
* Please pray for me and my family during this transition time of returning to work, juggling new routines, schedules and child care.
* Please pray for Brian as he injured his shoulder a couple weeks ago and has not been able to work since. Pray for relief from the pain and physical healing.
* Please pray for the Turning Point Counselling ministry, that those in need of our services will seek us out and that God would continue to sustain us in this ministry
I am looking forward to further connecting with you in the coming weeks, and would love to hear how you are doing and how I can be praying for you. Please feel free to reach out to me at anytime with questions, prayer requests or just to say “hi!”.
Blessings as we trust in Him,
Katy Mesics

WRBC Financial Support Forms 2026
Our purpose as a church is to Nurture Followers of Jesus Christ through Healthy Relationships. The ministry that occurs at Christian camps each year is invaluable to living out that purpose with our children and youth. Serving as staff, many adults in our church family mature through their service at camp as well.
With that in mind, as a church family we encourage people to consider investing themselves in others by taking a portion of their summer to serve with a Christian Camp through offering financial support of $100/week (to a max of $600) that can be requested through our Christian Camp Support Application (see requirements below and application attached).
Of course, our first encouragement is for people to join the summer staff at Camp Nutimik which is one of our Manitoba Baptist Association camps (the other being Water’s Edge Bible Camp). If this is of interest to you information about becoming a summer staff member can be found at Staff & Volunteer Opportunities/Camp Nutimik
We also want to invest in those of you considering full-time theological education (12 credit hours of Bible focused courses) or being involved in a Short-Term Missions opportunity (less than 2 years).
Please see the applications below for details:
If you’d like to talk with someone to discuss your plans regarding any of these areas, please feel free to call our church office (204-489-3875) or approach any of our WRBC staff. Or email the church office.

Mother’s Day Drive 2026 for Family Support Centre
Whyte Ridge Baptist Church wants to bless the moms who visit our church partner, Family Support Centre(FSC), coming up this Mother’s Day! FSC Ministry has been around for over 40 years in Winnipeg supporting moms with counselling and practical help such as baby clothes, diapers and formula for their newborn babies and young children.
We will have a table set up in the foyer for April 26, May 3 & 10 (Mother’s Day) where you can drop off gifts especially for the moms and/or their babies. See the list below for suggestions. Socks, lotion, journals or a $10 gift card will encourage these moms as they celebrate this Mother’s Day. Items for the babies are always welcome such as baby formula, newborn sleepers, soothers, blankets and baby care products. Please only new items for the babies!
If you have any questions, contact Debbie Neufeld at the church office.
Encouraging Political Engagement: Bill C-9
The EFC is encouraging us to contact members of the Senate in regards to Bill C-9 (Combatting Hate Act). While the EFC supports the intent to protect religious sites, it opposes the removal of the “religious belief defence” which threatens religious freedom and sincere faith expressions.
On behalf of our Justice and Mercy (JAM) Team, we would encourage you to call a member of the Senate (preferred) or personalize the message in this letter from The Evangelical Fellowship of Canada Bill C-9 and send as an email (the second reading could begin as early as April 13th). Click here Bill C-9 for a script that you can use to call or email. It also includes contact information for the senators.
Contact Karen Owzarek or Pastor Doug for more information.
